Nora Houston (1883 – 1942) was the 8th president of the Catholic Woman’s Club from 1934 to 1936, a founding member of the Equal Suffrage League of Virginia, the Virginia League of Women Voters, artist, and teacher. When she died on February 20, 1942, her grave was unmarked. A fundraising campaign was undertaken by the Nora Houston Foundation (norahouston.org) to raise funds for a gravestone. The Catholic Woman’s Club stepped up and made a major donation towards fundraising efforts. Members of the Catholic Woman’s Club attended the Dedication and Blessing of Nora Houston’s Gravestone which took place on August 18, 2020, at the Shockoe Cemetery, Richmond, VA, on the 100th year anniversary of the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution.
